A Study of the misunderstandings about distortion in the Qur'an from the Orientalists’ viewpoint
Mobshereh Nasiri Savadkuhi
BA Student of Islamic Teachings in Ma’aref University, Introduction to Islamic Sources.
Abstract:   (4 Views)
Among the Orientalists’ doubts, there is the question about the existence of distortions in the Qur'an. This includes existence of redundancies and impairment in the Qur'an. Some Orientalists such as Nöldeke, Goldzeher and Blushr publishing books or articles tried to prove the occurrence of distortion in the Holy Qur'an. Among the topics were the pretext for the Orientalists, including “Different Readings”, “the Narration of Seven Letters” and “Nurian” and “Wilayah” Surahs. Weak references is the major problem in almost all doubts. Partiality, ignorance of Islamic reliable sources and the lack of proper understanding of the traditions are the other reasons for these doubts. This paper attempts to examine and criticize the hypothesis of Distortion in the Qur'an. Finally, the immunity of the Qur’an from any distorting will be proved.
